Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
This policy describes how the operator of BuddyOS (“we”) handles information about users of BuddyOS (the “Service”). The Service includes the iPhone and Android apps, the Mac / Windows apps (the desktop app and the Bridge), and the website (buddy-os.com).
The Service is currently offered as a beta. Features and data handling may change without notice; we will announce material changes here or in the Service.
1. Operator
Name: PROTODUCTAI K.K.
Address: Disclosed without delay upon request
Contact: support@buddy-os.com
2. Your conversations are encrypted and are not stored on our servers
BuddyOS connects your iPhone to your own Mac / Windows PC (the Bridge) through an encrypted relay server. The relay is operated by a third party (Paseo).
Your interactions with the AI (prompts, responses, code and other conversation content) are end-to-end encrypted between your devices, so the relay cannot read them. They are not sent to or stored on our servers.
The relay can only see IP addresses, timing, message sizes and connection identifiers.
3. Information we collect
Sign-in information: if you sign in, your account identifier and email address (via Clerk, with Google or Apple).
Mac / PC registration: so that your iPhone can find and connect to your own Mac / PC, we store on our server (Convex), linked to your account, the Mac / PC identifier, name, relay connection identifiers, and the public key used for encryption. The keys used to connect are stored only on your phone and your Mac / PC and are never sent to our servers. The device token a Mac / PC uses to update its registration is stored only in a one-way (hashed) form. This does not include conversation content.
Push notifications: to notify you of things such as a completed response, we store your device’s push token on our server (Convex) and send notifications through Convex to the Apple Push Notification service. The notification text is encrypted on your Mac / PC; our server and Apple only receive a fixed placeholder message and encrypted data, and the original text is decrypted and shown on your iPhone.
Lock Screen status (Live Activities): while enabled in the app's settings, we send only the number and state (running, done, failed or stopped) of background tasks on your computer through our server (Convex) to the Apple Push Notification service. These values are not encrypted, but they never include conversation content, file names, names or your computer's name. Our server does not store them (it stores only a SHA-256 hash of the delivery token).
Voice input: voice input in the iPhone app uses Apple’s speech recognition. On supported devices recognition happens on the device; otherwise audio is sent to Apple for recognition, under Apple’s privacy policy. The Android app uses the speech recognition service set on your device, under that provider’s policy.
Waitlist information: if you join the waitlist, your email address, language, and any optional answers you give (your PC and phone, the AI agents you use, and your main use case). We store them on our server (Convex) and use Resend to send the sign-up email and manage the mailing list. New sign-ups and answers (including the email address) are posted to the operator’s chat (Discord).
Website analytics: buddy-os.com uses Google Analytics (GA4), which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect pages viewed, referrers, device and browser type, approximate location and similar data. Google’s handling is governed by Google’s policies. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. It is not loaded on the page shown after payment.
Website access logs: the website is hosted on Vercel, which records IP addresses, browser type, access times and similar data when you visit.
App usage analytics: the apps currently do not include any usage analytics tools.
4. If you use a paid plan
Purchases on the web: payments are processed by Stripe, and we do not store payment details such as credit card numbers. We store your Stripe customer identifier, email address, plan and subscription status, your signed-in account identifier, and records of credits granted and used.
Purchases on the App Store: payments are processed by Apple, and we use RevenueCat to manage purchase status. We store your RevenueCat user identifier, plan and subscription status, and credit records.
AI usage: AI models used with plan credits are provided through OpenRouter. When you activate a plan, we store a spending-limited API key issued by OpenRouter and pass it to the app. Inputs and responses you send to AI models under the plan are handled by OpenRouter and the model providers under their own policies.
5. How we use information
To provide, maintain and improve the Service, verify your identity, investigate issues, deliver notifications, provide and bill paid plans, prevent abuse, and contact you about the beta program and the waitlist.
6. Third-party services
The Service uses the following services, whose handling of data is governed by their own policies: Paseo (relaying connections), Clerk (sign-in), Convex (server functions and data storage), Apple (push notifications, speech recognition, App Store), Vercel (website hosting), Google Analytics (website analytics), Resend (email delivery), Discord (operator notifications), and GitHub (app distribution and update checks). If you use a paid plan, we also use Stripe, RevenueCat and OpenRouter.
These providers may store and process information outside Japan (mainly in the United States).
Your use of any AI agent you configure (e.g., Claude) is subject to that provider’s terms and pricing and is your responsibility.
7. Access, correction and deletion
To request access to, correction of, suspension of use of, or deletion of your information (including leaving the waitlist or deleting your account), contact support@buddy-os.com. We will respond after confirming your identity.
You can also delete your account yourself from the iPhone app: open Settings, tap your account at the top, and choose “Delete Account”. This deletes your sign-in information and the Mac / PC registrations and notification registrations stored on our server.
